Last night a couple guys from the house and I went to the Vampire Weekend concert held at the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee. And what a concert it was! After the conert I decided that I am going to try and see more live music.

Stoop Thoughts

This is the first of many posts entitled, Stoop Thoughts. Just about every house on Mifflin St has either a front porch or a stoop. When the weather is nice, just like today, the stoop is the best place to hang out. Sometimes I wish we had a porch, but the cement staired stoop adds to the uniqueness of our house. You see some interesting people and hear some interesting beats coming from cars while sitting here. Two days ago I heard the theme song to the James Bond movie Goldeneye.

As I sit here on the stoop with the beautiful 65 degree temp, the sound of one of the many NCAA basketball games plays on my computer. Today kicks off the NCAA tournament and it is the beginning of watching basketball for 4 days straight. I love college basketball.

It is kind of depressing to know that it is going to snow tomorrow night. So I have to make the most of this day.

Fun In The Sun

The anticipation continues to build for the release of my summer album: Boat Mix '10. It is a compilation of songs perfect for sittin' in the sun, floating on the lake, enjoying the simple things in life. Much thought and time has gone into the selection process. I wanted the best available 20 tracks that I felt fit the vibe of the album. The album tracks will not be released until April 13.

Ay Bay Bay

I was due for a long blog post, so here I go.

This past weekend I got the chance to feel like I was in high school again. Wausau West hockey was playing in the WIAA state hockey tournament and I attended one of their games on Friday. It was nice seeing old teachers and coaches. It makes me miss being a Warrior.

The weather this weekend was great, everyday was cloudless and around 40 degrees. I even stooped it for the first time this year. I can't wait for summer.

On Thursday, the house received a package. It was a styrofoam cooler filled with goods from Omaha Steaks. This gift was given to the whole house by one of our neighbor's Dad because of our courageous actions a week ago. Last week, I forget which day, at around 2 pm, a couple of us noticed cops across the street. There were like 8 of them in total. We were clueless as of what was going on, but eager to find out. After 20 minutes of staring out the window watching them, we got a hold of one of the girls that was living at the cop surrounded house. Apparently a homeless man threw a brick through their back window, climbed through it and was about to steal stuff from one of the girls rooms. But luckily a good Samaritan across the street heard the noise of the breaking glass and called the cops. The cops arrived just in time and caught the thief in action. They tackled the man inside the girls room, tazzed him and arrested him at gunpoint. I feel so safe on mifflin now.

So as any nice neighbors would do, we walked over to the house shortly after this whole incident happened to check on the girls. There is no way any homeless man would mess with a member of the 444. The girls were very traumatized, as anyone would be if this happened to them, but our presence comforted them and they were glad to see some caring neighbors. All we did was stop by the house for 5 minutes and we received this wonderful food in the mail.

I think we are going to save the gifts in the freezer for a while and wait for a special day to have the feast.

It was also a good weekend to be a Chicago Bear fan. We signed three top free agents.

Pinky Swear

I pinkie swore that I would blog today. Its a little late but what ev. Kevin, Scott and I are watching Blindside, it is such a good movie and I highly recommend it to those who have not seen it. I enjoy watching movies upstairs on the big screen. I rarely ever hang out in the the flat's living room, mainly because its cold. Although it was remodeled by Cam and I, it still doesn't feel homely.

Since my last post, I have not eaten a better sandwhich. I usually eat two sandwiches a day, all of which are paninied. Since I have been back from winter break, I don't think there has been a day where the panini maker hasn't been used. I love that thing.

I have been thinking alot about spring break lately. This year I wanted to do something different and volunteer. So I applied for the alternate spring break volunteer trip through Madison. Sadly, I found out today that I am on the waiting list until March 7th. There is still hope. I had a lot of fun on the last volunteer trip I participated in during my Senior year of high school. If the volunteer trip doesn't work out, I will still look for other options that include helping others out, even if its only for a weekend.

Not much else going on at the 444. Caleb the frog is doing great in his new bowl we put him in. He loves the bigger environment. A couple of us decided on going to the Vampire Weekend concert in Milwaukee in three weeks. I have one exam on Monday and then I'm free till after spring break.

Today, my back is sore. I shovled my cabins driveway and I am really feeling it today. I also bought my Dave Matthews band tickets today for their summer concert, this will be my third year in row.

Tomorrow is Saturday and I will be in the Library studying for most of the day. But on Sunday I have decided to make another recipe from my cookbook, Beef stew ale. I will post another video on the making and enjoying of it.

The Moanin' George Dawkins

Today, I was feeling creative. So creative, I made another "How To" food video. The pinini maker comes through yet again. Big thanks to Scott Piel for cooking the eggs and cam the camera man.

Remixing

Vampire Weekend has become one of my fav artists and recently I came across a really catchty remix of one of their songs. Some remixes ruin a song but this one makes it better.
